BEAUFORD DELANEY (1901 - 1979) Spanish Youth. Oil on linen canvas, 1967-68. Delaney was an African American artist and member of the Harlem Renaissance. He painted this portrait while on holiday in Spain with writer James Baldwin in the 1960’s. He would soon focus on abstract expressionism in his work. Former collection of James Baldwin.
